Painting

I paint what I see around me —the landscape of central Kentucky, or interesting objects on my front porch.  While my subjects are traditional, my technique and color use are not.  Blue trees, yellow skies, pink hills all have a place within my painting.

I try for a freshness and vitality by working quickly.  I hope the viewer feels that excitement as they look at one of my finished paintings!

Ceramics

I’m a native Kentucky artist, living and working on the farm where I was born. I make both functional and decorative pottery using handmade methods.

Most of my work centers around the display of flowers, including wall pockets, flower frogs and seed vases.  All are fired and glazed in an array of beautiful colors.

Soap dishes, coasters, tumblers and shot glasses combine beauty and function. I love using original clay stamps to make texture in the wet clay.  The rough surface can be seen and felt in the finished work.  My little cottages sit over a burning incense cone, allowing the smoke to spiral up and out the chimney!
